Operating on the farthest frontiers of choreography, Alexx makes dances (choreographer Alexx Shilling) and Pappas and Dancers (choreographer Rebecca Pappas) create works that throb with the emotional intensity of dreams, animated artworks rich with associations, symbols and mystery. Now these two remarkable artists come together for a double-header of new works. Set to the music of R.E.M, Andrew Lloyd Webber and others, Pappas’ powerful duet, A Dance Concerning Itself with History and Memory, discombobulates, rearranges and releases the past. Meanwhile, Shilling’s Absense: a History explores the intersection of dance and photography, turning the entire stage into “a laboratory for memory.” Experience both at this special event at Highways Performance Space and Gallery.
