Throwback Thursdays: "24 Hour Party People"

Joy Division, New Order, Happy Mondays — Manchester’s Factory Records was a powerhouse of post-punk production in the 1970s and 1980s, and it all started when a news reporter named Tony Wilson went to a Sex Pistols concert in 1976 and was so overcome with awe that he decided to host his own series of punk shows. 24 Hour Party People charts Wilson’s life and career, with comedian Steve Coogan playing the man who would go on to found a record label and write the first contract in his own blood. The movie screened at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival and has received scores of positive reviews since. Don’t miss the opportunity to catch the flick on the big screen at Laemmle’s NoHo 7, where it’s playing as part of the Throwback Thursday Film Series. Each event features a gourmet food truck on-site, selling delicious edibles tied to that night’s film. Bring your food into the auditorium before the screening and enjoy a playlist of music specifically curated to match that night’s film.
