Ranchera Star Paquita la del Barrio at L.A. County Fair
Fairplex (Pomona, CA)

In her soulful ranchera songs, frank and fearless Mexican chanteuse Paquita la del Barrio takes a stance against sexism and she’s become known worldwide for her themes of female empowerment. Her signature phrase is “Me estás oyendo, inútil?” (“Are you listening, good-for-nothing?”) and it’s not uncommon to hear her playfully toss it at men in the audience. The no-nonsense vocalist will dive into three decades’ worth of material — including hits like “Taco Placeros” and “Rata de dos patas” — when she comes to the Fairplex in Pomona as part of the L.A. County Fair’s End of Summer Concert Series. She’ll be joined by America’s first all-female mariachi ensemble, Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles.
