Highways Performance Space and Gallery (Santa Monica, CA)
Now in its ninth year, Somatic Movement Arts Festival brings its Embodiment dance works to Highways Performance Space and Gallery. L.A.-based movement artist Teri Carter heads up a troupe of performers who’ve received praise from the LA Times for their “brilliant harnessing of the body.” Embodiment explores the biology of the body and sets out to prove that our fluid body system is its own innate choreographer. They’ll offer up a display of contemporary and improvisational work that’s infused with sensuality and innovation. As the ensemble presents their “bio-landscape” of dance, film and live music, expect to play a participatory role in their visceral performance approach.
