In Memoriam: Honouring the lives of Jessica Williams, Alton Sterling, Philando Castile and countless others.
Its been a difficult and painful time for many of us. We have been rocked by the needless and unacceptable murders of Jessica Williams, Alton Sterling, Philando Castile and countless other Black people who have been murdered as a result of police violence. Underlying these tragic losses is a system that devalues and dehumanizes Black lives.
Jessica Williams, a sister and a cousin trying to secure a future for her children was shot and killed by police at the wheel of a car on May 19th. A few months later, on July 5th Alton Sterling, a father of five was shot and killed by police while selling cds outside a supermarket. 24 hours later, on July 6th, Philando Castile, a lunchroom supervisor beloved by his students, friends and family was shot and killed by police at a traffic stop.
Many of us are hurting. Many of us are angry. Many of us are mourning. Many of us are devastated by the abject violence directed towards Black people by state structures. We are in pain.
Join us for an outdoor memorial as we grieve with Black communities in America for the lives lost. Everyone is welcome to attend.

A brief program with libations & speakers will be held followed by moments of silence to honour Jessica, Alton and Philando. The memorial will conclude with a celebration of Black lives.
