An ex-polytechnic student aging 23 was discovered hanging outside the rented house’s veranda on Monday morning in Sepanggar.
The body of the deceased student was found hanging by one of his housemates at about 9 am. Andika Alam Usman Duri, the student found hanged, had complained of severe chest pain the day before. The owner of the rented house was informed about the incident by his son, who is one of the housemates. He said, “My son called about 9am saying his roommate, had hanged himself, so I told him not to touch anything and to notify the police immediately”. The owner also told that Andika was up until 3 am the last night chatting with his roommates and went off to sleep after offering his prayers. He must have hanged himself sometime after that.
His friends reported that he complained about chest pains quite a few times and ignored to get himself checked despite them constantly pushing him to get specialized treatment. They would often hear him crying during night time. One of the housemate also informed that he heard him crying at about 5am that morning.
The police was reported about the death and have declared that they do not think there is any foul play involved in the death of the former student. The cause of death has been announced to be sudden. The ACP City Police Sofi Zakaria said, “The victim’s body was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a post-mortem and the police have notified his family members while arrangements are being made to send the body back to Lahad Datu.”
