Four men charged for a Calgary home invasion

The Calgary Police Service has charged four people in connection with a violent home invasion.

At approximately 3:15 a.m., on Friday, May 13, 2011, four armed men broke into a home in the 200 block of Saddlecrest Way N.E. Once inside, two of the suspects forced their way into an upstairs bedroom where a couple were sleeping. The man and woman were tied up as the suspects rummaged through the home. A small amount of money and a cell phone were taken.

Another adult and seven children were sleeping in nearby bedrooms. They were unharmed.

A short time later, officers conducted a traffic stop in Coral Springs on a suspicious vehicle and arrested four men believed responsible for the home invasion.

Derek Steve VANDALE, 18, Ellington Jennings WILLIAMS, 28, Jermaine Anthony YOUNG, 27, and Jaret Keith MCPHEE, 39, all of Calgary, are charged with one count each of break and enter to commit robbery, wearing disguises to commit an indictable offence and possession of a dangerous weapon and three counts each of forcible confinement.
