Codiac Regional RCMP is requesting the public’s help in locating a 43-year-old Moncton man missing for over a month. Michael Andrew Blakney was reported missing to police last week but was last seen in early August while riding his bicycle in Moncton.

Blakney is of average build, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing approximately 150lbs, and has black hair. He also walks with a limp. Blakney uses prescription glasses and often wears a ball cap. Family and friends say he rides a one speed bicycle everywhere and is known to ride regularly on trails to Sackville and Petitcodiac.

Investigators have checked with family and friends and no one has heard from him since early August. They say while they keep in regular contact with him it’s often sporadic and that’s why it took a month before he was reported missing. Blakney resides in a Moncton rooming house and residents there are also puzzled by his unusual disappearance.

Blakney has a seasonal job and his employer states that Blakney did not report for work like he usually does each fall. Investigators have also learned there have been no calls on his cellular phone and no bank transactions since early August.
