DRPS Drug Enforcement officers were assisted by K-9 in arresting one male following their investigation of an outdoor grow op in Clarington.

On Monday September 20, 2010 at approximately 2:30 a.m. officers from East Division attended the vicinity of South Service Road and Holt Road in Clarington to assist officers from the DEU in their investigation of an outdoor marihuana grow op. DEU officers descended upon the outdoor marihuana grow op and observed four suspects fleeing the scene.

A DRPS K-9 unit assisted officers in tracking the fleeing suspects. One male suspect was located in heavy brush nearby and he resisted arrest by the police dog. He received bite wounds and was transported by EMS to a local hospital for medical treatment for his minor injuries. The suspect was later released back into police custody. No further suspects were located during the search and officers seized a large quantity of marihuana already prepared for transport.

The investigation is ongoing. Police are appealing for information leading to the identity of further suspects involved in this illicit growing operation. Four large bags of marihuana were located during the investigation with a street value of about $200,000.

Ming Chao WANG, age 33, of Meadowglen Place in Scarborough is charged with: Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and Production of a Controlled Substance. The accused was held for a bail hearing.
