It seems reminescent of a horror story. In what appears to be a random act, a British woman was beheaded by a crazed man in a Chinese supermarket on the Spanish resort island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands. A 28-year-old Bulgarian man, identified by police as Deyan Valentinov D., was tackled by a security guard and arrested.
According to reports, the man entered the store and picked up a knife then attacked the victim. He repeatedly stabbed the woman then decapitated the body. He picked up the head and ran out of the store. Some witnesses at first did not realise the head was real until seeing the blood. A security guard chased after him and wrestled him to the ground. Police apparently had to hold back the crowd as people were trying to kick the man.
The name of the 60 year old British woman has not yet been released.
The police have reported that the suspect is a homeless man with a record who was well known in the area. Various reports have stated that the man in question had been treated in the past for mental illness.
