The helicopter with two engines, Agusta AW 109, tried to make an emergency landing at the Birsa Munda Airport at 12 30 pm where it crashed before it could land. The reason for crash landing is described as some technical fault in the helicopter. The pilot got to know about the technical issue and tried to make a safe emergency landing; however, the helicopter crash landed injuring the CM of Jharkhand. All the passengers of the helicopter were immediately taken to Apollo Hospital where the doctors have announced that all individuals from the helicopter crash are safe and are being given treatment. None of affected individuals have experienced fatal injuries. Most of the patients arriving to the hospital from the crash have not been seriously injured except for one of the pilots, who is stated to have suffered serious injuries. But the doctors have reported that he too is out of danger.

Police authorities have started investigating the matter thoroughly. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has also launched a special inquiry for the incident and has announced that the airport will not be operational for until the evening.
