Anil Kapoor to star in Amazon TV series pilot based on Book Of Strange New Things

Anil Kapoor made his way to Hollywood after starring in Danny Boyle’s Academy Award winning film Slumdog Millionaire in 2009. Anil, then, went onto star in the fourth instalment of Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.

Now, we have learned that Anil Kapoor has been roped for a major role in Amazon’s upcoming sci-fi untitled drama series which is based on Michel Faber’s bestselling book, The Book of Strange New Things. Anil will portray the role of Vikram Danesh who is the authoritative head of the base on the Oasis.

Confirming the same, Anil took to twitter saying, “The next chapter begins…#StrangeNewThings! One of the most complex characters I’ve ever played! @AmazonVideoIN”. Also talking about the show on their official twitter handle Amazon Video posted an image of Kapoor saying, “Mr. India @AnilKapoor is set to star in a new Amazon Original pilot based on the hit novel ‘The Book of Strange New Things’. #ComingSoon”.

As for the show, Richard Madden from Game of Thrones will be leading the show and Haley Joel Osment will be seen in a pivotal role. The show will follow the story of a priest named Peter Leigh who leaves his wife behind on Earth and goes to space to help colonize a desert planet. The hour long pilot episode will be written by Matt Charman (Bridge of Spies) who is also the executive producer and will be directed by Kevin MacDonald and produced by Andy Harries and Lila Rawlings. The one-hour pilot will be a co-production of Amazon Studios and Left Bank Productions.

On the work front, Anil Kapoor recently starred in second season of the Hindi adaptation of American TV series 24.
