Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has one of the enviable careers in Bollywood where her repertoire is filled with variety of works. The actor has also acted with popular A-listers, from Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan to Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn but she hasn’t done a film with Aamir Khan, except a small appearance in Mela. Though the actress has shared screen space with the superstar in some of the most iconic commercials of the 90s, she has never worked with him as his leading lady in any film.
In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan spoke about working with Aamir Khan in Mela. She said, “I and Aamir were doing a world tour together when he asked me if I would do one little appearance in the end for his brother Faizal. He asked, ‘Will you do it but I just wanted to imply that you are with him [Faizal] is that fine by you?’ And I answered, ‘Of course, you have asked me to do it then I will do it for you.’”
Further she reminisced about her time of working with Aamir Khan in commercials. “I had done my first commercial with him. First Pepsi and then we did [a commercial] for Coke together. And of course, he was my senior and someone whose work I had already admired even before I came into any aspect of showbiz. So I said yes as it was my basic way of saying a thank you since he was the one I had done my first commercial and world tour with. This is how we have been brought up. It’s my parent’s upbringing and it was just acknowledging my senior’s request.”
Also, Aishwarya added that she would love to work with Aamir Khan if there is an opportunity. “That would be great, I would love to do [a film with him] because he does fabulous work,” she concluded.
On the work front, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is expected to reunite with her real life husband Abhishek Bachchan for Anurag Kashyap’s next Gulab Jamun.
