The second show was by Shyamal and Bhumika. Their western silhouettes were quite cool and juxtaposed with rich embroideries. Jackets, ornate gowns, sequin encrusted leggings in a colour palette of emerald green, amethyst, purple, ruby, gold and black gave their collection a festive appeal. Said Bhumika, “Black is the perfect colour for this season. Also, blacks and velvets spell richness and royalty.”
Preeti Chandra showcased a collection that included silhouettes, long jackets, harem pants, maxis and tunics in ginger, midnight navy and violet shades. She used soft, flowing fabrics like chiffons, silks, georgettes. A wearable collection. “While the bohemian theme was what I had adhered to last season to bring out that girly feel, this time the emphasis has been on sophistication,” explained Preeti.
And then came Aslam Khan. It was interesting to note that the designer had offset the whites against the blacks, balancing the collection, which included Indo-Western outfits, short minis, skirts, gowns and halter neck tops.
