The TC is led by the two Directors of Nationality, Passport and Immigration of the Interior Ministries of the two nations. It shall also have eight other members nominated by each country.
The formation of the TC resulted from a meeting attended by Hon. Alison Manani Magaya Interior Minister on the side of South Sudan and Hon. Ibrahim Mahamoud Interior Minister on the side of the Sudanese government facilitated by the African Union High Level Implementation Panel in Addis Ababa on Wednesday.
The TC is tasked to prepare a programme of work for the Joint High Level Committee on the status of nationals on the other state related matters (JHLC).
In its preparatory work, the TC is expected to consider the elaboration of the four freedoms, facilitation of documentation of nationals, liaison with other related implementation mechanisms for example Joint Border Commission (JPSM) and Subordinate Mechanisms.
The TC is also expected to consider publicity and public information on Frame work agreement and four freedoms. It shall also consider immigration issues, proposal on the structure of JHLC including committees, methods of work of the JHLC and any other issue identified by the parties.
It is expected to commence its work after one week following its formation.
