Amar Singh, Rajya Sabha MP, on Thursday, has been granted temporary bail till September 19 on health grounds by a Delhi court as regards the 2008 cash-for-vote scam.
After being in judicial custody for nine days, the 55 year old A Singh has been granted interim bail by Special Judge, Sangita Dhingra Sehgal.
In order to respond to the summons from the court Mr Singh appeared there and was arrested on September 6 for his alleged role in the scam.
The sources reported that Mr. Singh was then sent to AIIMS because he had undergone a kidney transplant which caused him to have diarrhea and vomiting. The medical report of Mr Singh had been asked for by the court. From Department of Nephrology (AIIMS), Prof Sanjay Gupta said Amar Singh was admitted on 7th September following complications connected to post-renal transplant, diarrhea, urinary tract infection, diabetes, dehydration and hypothyroid hypertension.
According to the bail conditions Amar Singh cannot travel abroad and was directed to give his passport to the court.
The Court granted him bail on providing a personal bond of Rs. 200,000 and a surety of the same amount.
“Amar Singh granted interim bail till September 19,” the judge said. The Court is scheduled to hear Mr. Singh’s regular bail appeal on September 19.
