Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Jayanthi Jayalalithaa is all set to appear before a Bangalore Court at 11:00 today due to the ongoing corruption case against her.

Previously Supreme Court rejected Jayalalithaa’s attempt to skip the hearing, she gave the reason of insufficient security for not willing to appear.

Ms. Jayalalithaa has travelled to the city of Bangalore in a special aircraft and she is expected to arrive in Bangalore’s HAL airport at 9.40 am. She is expected to record her statement before the Trial court of Bangalore which is situated inside Bangalore Central Jail.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa is also serving his jail term in the same jail.

Jayalalithaa’s close friend Shasikala who is also allegedly a part of the disproportionate assests case is accompanying her to Bangalore.

The Supreme Court last month told Jayanthi Jayalalithaa to attend the hearing at the special court. Jayanthi Jayalalithaa’s lawyer filed for exemption citing security issues. Supreme Court rejected their request and termed it “tactic by the accused to delay proceedings”, but after that the Court requested the Karnataka government to make sure the Chief Minister was given fool proof security.
