The Supreme Court of Pakistan takes up the case of potential Kayani and Pasha dismissal.

The ISI Chief and the Army Chief will be summoned to the court for the proceedings. The Supreme Court of Pakistan and the three judge bench lead by the Chief Justice of Pakistan Mohammad Iftikhar Chaudhry heard the petition of the objection raised by the registrar over the dismissal of Chief Lieutenant General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Ahmad Shuja Pasha and General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, the Chief of Army Staff.

The Chief Justice declared that the case will be heard and preceded in the court of law as per regulations due to the significance and sensitivity of the matter. The petition was filed by a lawyer Fazal Karim Butt.

The Chief Justice instructed Attorney General Molvi Anwar-ul-Haq to take over the case and interact with the government so that the court is aware if there is some reservation on the plea by the government. Anwar-ul-Haq reported to the court that as per regulations the case can be admitted for hearing and if the government has any issue they can come forward.

The Supreme Court directed the registrar to present the case to the judicial bench. The government has already informed the court that they had no intention of sacking the ISI Chief or the Chief of Army Staff for their “unconstitutional and illegal replies” in the Memogate case.
