Tourist bus overturns, killing two Indians

A tourist bus carrying 24 Indian nationals went out of control of the driver near Genting Highlands where it skidded and overturned. Two Indians have been declared dead whereas as about a dozen have been sent to nearby hospital for first aid.

The incident took place at the Kuala Lumpur Karak Highway when the bus was coming down from the Genting Highlands on Monday morning. The reported time of the accident is about 8 am.

After initial investigations the reason behind the accident is the sharp turn while coming down from Genting Highlands where the driver could not maintain control over the vehicle which eventually skidded and overturned resulting in the accident. Rescue and emergency teams reached the accident site in no time and started their operations.

The spokesperson of the police department said, “It hit the road divider and overturned”.

The identities of the two who lost their lives in the accident have yet not been revealed. However, the dead bodies have been taken to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital alongside other injured tourists. The dead include a man and a woman. Rescue team consisted of more than 50 individuals who had rescued all 24 Indians from the bus within an hour and were taken to safety and given first aid.

Both the bus drivers have also been sent to the hospital for first aid from where they will be taken into custody for investigations, whereas the vehicle is already in police custody.
