The Transport Minister of Singapore Lui Tuck Yew spoke to the media and said that the NEL breakdown was managed a lot more efficiently with lesser time lags and management loopholes when compared to the December breakdown the previous year.

The people remained calm and did not create panic because of which the management team also worked efficiently and at peace. Bridging busses also arrived the station in a very short time and the matter was under control without spreading panic all over. He expressed his thoughts Thursday morning when he came to visit the Dhobi Ghaut Station for the issue which caused the breakdown. He also informed that from his observation it is taking about 10 – 15 minutes to board on the busses and announcements about the breakdown of the next station are being made at all previous stops.

At the time of arrival to the broken down station, station staff members are already standing at the exit points and guiding the commuters to which way to take to get to the toll-free connecting buses. Moreover, announcements at the broken down station are also being made in English as well as in Chinese.

Despite a number of announcements being made regarding the revival time of the affected stations, they were cancelled a little while later. No more announcements have been made and will not be made until further notice.
