The Edmonton Police Service has charged a man after he allegedly drove off with an ambulance that was at the scene of an emergency call.

Alberta Health Services EMS reported to police that an ambulance was allegedly driven away by a passerby while it was parked at a north Edmonton seniors housing facility shortly after 2 a.m. on March 16, 2011. EPS Northeast Patrol Officers and Air One tracked the ambulance through its onboard GPS system, and proceeded to follow the ambulance until it was safe to stop and apprehend the driver.

Lorne Paskimin, 45, has been charged with theft over $5,000, criminal negligence, and impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
