District 7 RCMP are investigating a single vehicle collision, which occurred in the early morning hours of May 21, 2011. The crash occurred on Route 103, in Wakefield, N.B. when a northbound car left the road, hit a tree, and landed in a nearby ravine.
The driver, a 17-year-old Florenceville-Bristol boy, died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. The sole other passenger of the car, a 16-year-old boy, also of Florenceville-Bristol, sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Saint John Regional Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. They were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.
Investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. The name of the deceased is not being released at this time.
