Mohammad Shafia is to be discharged from hospital Friday afternoon.
“They did what they were going to do at the hospital and they’re going to discharge him this afternoon,” defence lawyer Peter Kemp said Friday morning. “I’ve talked to the Crown and we’re going to try and get the jury back in and try and get this thing rolling on Tuesday instead of Wednesday.”
Kingston police Staff Sgt. Chris Scott said alleged killer Shafia was hospitalized late Wednesday. Apparently, Shafia was unwell at the detention centre in Napanee, Ont., where the accused and his 41-year-old wife, Tooba Mohammad Yahya and 20-year-old son Hamed are jailed.
Moreover, Scott also said that Shafia was initially transferred to a small medical care in Napanee but later shifted to Kingston General Hospital.
Teenage sisters Zainab Shafia, Sahar Shafia, and Geet Shafia, and Shafia’s first wife Rona Amir Mohammad were found dead in a waterlogged Nissan Sentra at the bottom of a shallow canal in Kingston on June 30, 2009.
