The RCMP Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit is treating the suspicious death of a 57-year-old woman in Chester Basin as a homicide.
At approximately 9:00 a.m. March 2nd, RCMP responded to a request for police assistance from Provincial Emergency Health Services (EHS). EHS had responded to an emergency call of a sudden death at a residence.
Upon arrival, police found a deceased 57-year-old female. The identification of the deceased is being withheld at this time. The body has been transported to Halifax where an autopsy will take place.
Update: RCMP are releasing the name of the deceased woman as Victoria Rae Braun-Buckley, 57-years-old, of Chester Basin. On Sunday, March 4th, the RCMP Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit confirmed it is investigating the death as a homicide.
The RCMP Forensic Identification Team has left the residence in Chester Basin. The RCMP Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit and Lunenburg County District RCMP are continuing the investigation.
Update: RCMP have charged a Chester Basin man in relation to a homicide that occurred on March 2nd.
Eighteen-year-old John Buckley has been charged with Second Degree Murder in the death of 57-year-old Victoria Braun-Buckley of Chester Basin.

On March 4th, the RCMP Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit confirmed it was investigating the death as a homicide.
John Buckley will be appearing in Bridgewater Provincial Court today.
The RCMP Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit are continuing with the investigation.
