A man is in police custody following an armed stand off in Scoudouc earlier this morning.

At approximately 11 p.m. on Sunday April 8, 2012 District 4 RCMP arrived at a residence on Route 133 near Malakov Road in Scoudouc to check if a 26-year old Scoudouc man was there as he was wanted by the Codiac Regional RCMP in connection with an incident in a bar in Moncton earlier that evening.

On Sunday at approximately 9:35 p.m. Codiac Regional RCMP were called to a bar on Elmwood Drive in Moncton where a man got into an argument with a bartender and attempted to discharge a firearm. The gun did not go off and the suspect fled the scene. No one was physically injured.

The police confirmed the man was in a home in Scoudouc, but upon seeing the police, the man barricaded himself inside the home. After ten hours of negotiations, the RCMP’s Negotiation Team and Emergency Response Team were able to ensure the peaceful surrender of the suspect. The suspect was arrested without incident and taken into police custody.

The 26-year-old man will be appearing in Moncton Provincial Court on Tuesday to face related charges.

The investigation is ongoing.
