The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in Homicide #57/2014.
It is alleged that:
– on Monday, December 15, 2014, at approximately 1 a.m., police responded to a medical call at a home in the Dufferin Street/Beaconsfield Avenue area
– police located an unconscious 41-year-old woman in her home
– she was taken to hospital
Police arrested Dean Nixon, 39, of Toronto. He was charged with:
1) Aggravated Assault
On Sunday, December 21, 2014, the woman was removed from life-support.
On Monday, December 22, 2014, a post-mortem examination determined the cause of death to be the result of complications of head injury.
On Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at 7 a.m., the man turned himself in to police. He is now charged with:
1) Second Degree murder
He is scheduled to appear in court, at Old City Hall, on Tuesday, December 23, 2014.
The woman has been identified as Candace Baran, 41, of Toronto.
