Fake investor Antonio Oliveira charged with fraud, Toronto

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a fraud investigation.

It is alleged that:

− in March 2010, the accused presented himself to his victim as an investor, befriended the victim and promised him a high rate of return if the victim gave him money,

− by the end of June 2010, the victim, in trust, gave the accused $128,305, and received nothing in return,

– the incident took place in the Queen Street West/Dufferin Street area.

Police believe there may be other victims.

On Friday, January 7, 2011, Antonio Oliveira, 41, of Toronto, was charged with two counts of Fraud Over.

He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Saturday, January 8, 2011, at 10 a.m.
