Long Beach Ballet Performs Ocean-Inspired Guardians
Aquarium of the Pacific (Long Beach, CA)
Guardians, staged by the Long Beach Ballet, captures the ever-changing relationship of humans with the ocean, particularly with the urban ocean along the Southern California coast, where it supports a large human population and diverse and abundant marine life. Expressed through exquisite movement choreographed by Johnny Zhong and directed by David Wilcox, this beautiful and inspirational ballet evokes the tranquility, exotic rhythms and myriad challenges of life under the sea. It takes the audience on a journey through time starting with the chaotic formation of the universe to the triumphant finale when humans embrace their role as guardians of the planet and live in harmony with the natural support system that sustains all life.
