Established in 1998, this is local bluegrass at its best. Three foot stomping, toe tapping, do-si-do sets performed each Wednesday night at The Silver Dollar Room (486 Spadina Avenue) by local bluegrass icons Crazy Strings featuring; Chris Quinn on Banjo/Guitar, John Showman on Fiddle, Andrew Collins on Mandolin/Fiddle, Chris Coole on Guitar/Banjo, Max Heineman on Acoustic Bass and Marc Roy on Guitar. High Lonesome Wednesdays has become one of the most successful weekly music shows in Toronto. Playing music Earl Scruggs would recognize as the sound he pioneered with Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys. High Lonesome Wednesdays has become the gathering place for both veterans of the scene, and the new generation. Each week a specially selected guest appears from 9:00PM to 9:45PM before Crazy Strings takes over at 10:00PM for the remainder of the night Doors @ 9:00PM.
