RGV denies postponing of Department

As per a few who are closely attached to the film, its release date may be pushed by a week. This is being attributed to the post production of the film which is apparently taking longer than required.

Says a source on condition of anonymity, "There is still some work left on the film. As we talk, it is a race against time. Ram Gopal Varma and everyone else really want the film to make it on 18th May. However we aren't sure if this would happen. Looks like the film may be pushed by a week."

From competition perspective, it won't really harm the Amitabh Bachchan-Sanjay Dutt starrer if it moves by a week since there is no other notable release on either 18th or 25th of May. However, it would give the film only one week to make maximum moolah since Rowdy Rathore is expected to arrive like a hurricane on June 1.

"The delay of Department would help Dangerous Ishhq and Ishaqzaade though, both of which arrive a week before. This would then give them a fortnight to add to its revenue", adds a trade insider.

However, quiz Ram Gopal Varma about the rumours making the rounds and he shrugs it all away. He says, "It is untrue that the film is being postponed. It is arriving on May 18, that's final."

Ask him about the origin of the rumour and how there is no smoke without fire and he says in his characteristic tone, "I can't speculate on others' speculations. As far as I am concerned, all people associated with Department know that it is arriving as planned. Moreover the promos and advertisements are carrying out the same date as well. Beyond that there is actually nothing to say."

Well, this should set matters to rest.
