India will start their tour to England from the test series with the opening test match to be played at Nottingham on Wednesday.
It is mainly the battle between two defensive captains MS Dhoni and Alistair Cook. Both captains have been under enormous pressure to show some positive results. The pitch conditions do match the likes of Indian spinners and batsmen. It may help them to gain a victory over a team which is already in tatters recently. The probable Indian squad will include: 1 M Vijay, 2 Shikhar Dhawan, 3 Cheteshwar Pujara, 4 Virat Kohli, 5 Ajinkya Rahane, 6 MS Dhoni (capt & wk), 7 Stuart Binny/Rohit Sharma, 8 Ravindra Jadeja, 9 Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10 Mohammed Shami, 11 Ishant Sharma.
On the other hands, Alistair Cook’s captaincy job is under scrutiny by many and this series could play a huge part to see what his future will be. However, the English board and the pitch curators haven’t aided him by providing a dry surface in Nottingham because of the cost effectiveness which is likely to help the visitors. England don’t have a recognised spinner in the squad with Moeen Ali providing that option but the fast bowlers will have to take full advantage of the overcast conditions on the dry pitch. The likely English line-up will include: 1 Alastair Cook (capt), 2 Sam Robson, 3 Gary Ballance, 4 Ian Bell, 5 Joe Root, 6 Moeen Ali, 7 Matt Prior/Jos Buttler (wk), 8 Chris Jordan/Ben Stokes, 9 Stuart Broad, 10 Liam Plunkett, 11 James Anderson.
