Philippine is preparing a warm welcome for the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani who is arriving on a visit to Philippines on Tuesday.
The visit was an initiative taken by the President of Philippines who invited the Emir of Qatar to visit their country and sit down for discussions. The invitation was taken warmly by the Emir and he is scheduled to arrive in Philippines on Tuesday for a two day tour where he will be meeting President Aquino III for the most time of his visit but will also be speaking with other cabinet members on several issues.
The Emir of Qatar is arriving to Philippines for the first time in the history of Philippines, as announced by the Department of Foreign Affairs on Monday. They also informed that the purpose of the tour of the Emir is totally official and concerns foreign affairs. The topics under discussion in the meeting sessions include tourism, investment, trade, agriculture, and labor.
The secretary at the Department of Foreign Affairs Albert F. del Rosario said, “His Highness the Emir’s visit affirms the advancement of political and economic ties between the Philippines and Qatar. We are looking forward to discussing ways to achieve more positive growth in the realm of trade and investment and increasing opportunities for our Filipino workers.”
