80-year-old female passenger dies in a car crash in Toronto

On Thursday May 6, 2010, at 4:31 p.m., police responded to call for a collision at 155 Wellington Street West.

It is reported that:

– the driver of a Ford Taurus exited a parking lot on the north side of Wellington Street West and accelerated quickly onto the street,

– the Taurus was struck by a Hummer which had been travelling eastbound on Wellington Street,

– the collision sent the Taurus into a steel railing, then into the building at 155 Wellington Street.

An 80-year-old female passenger from the Taurus was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died. The other two occupants were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

This is the third passenger to die in a collision this year.
