What originally started out as a noisy party complaint ended this morning with one man dead.

Just before 1:15 a.m., Friday June 11, North Division patrol officers were called to an apartment complex in the Claireview area about a noisy party. About half an hour later, at 1:49 a.m., police were called back to the address at 136 Avenue and 36 Street about a report of an assault causing bodily harm.

A 51-year-old man was transported to hospital. He succumbed to his injuries at approximately 5:30 a.m. this morning.

The EPS Homicide Section has taken over the investigation. A male is now in custody and is being questioned by investigators.

An autopsy on the victim is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. to determine an exact cause of death.
