Medicine Hat… Park staff at Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park continue to clean-up after last week’s sudden, massive rainfall affected several of its campgrounds and recreational areas. As a result, the majority of park facilities and all Elkwater campgrounds are expected to re-open to visitors by this weekend.

The townsite of Elkwater is open, with all business services available including the golf course, restaurant, and lodge.

Over the next couple of days, work will be underway to:

-remove mud and debris in Loop D of the Elkwater campground; and
-reopen the majority of hiking trails and viewpoints; however visitors should expect muddy conditions.
-Due to significant flood damage, Reesor Lake and the Interprovincial Park Road to Saskatchewan are impassable at this time. Work will begin when conditions dry out.

Nearby fishing opportunities are at the Spruce Coulee and Bullshead reservoirs.
