Investigators working out of the #5 District Criminal Investigation Bureau are seeking public assistance in identifying a man following a large house fire in the Town of Markham.
On Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at approximately 11:45 p.m. police were called to Morning Dove Drive for a report of a home on fire. Residents in the area reported hearing an explosion around the time when the fire was discovered. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, the home was fully engulfed and at least three surrounding homes had sustained damage.
Investigators working out of the York Regional Police #5 District Criminal Investigation Bureau, under the direction of the office of the Ontario Fire Marshall, are working to determine whether or not the fire was the result of a criminal offence. Due to the severity of the damage, at this point the cause of the fire is unclear. Investigators expect to be on scene for several days, examining evidence.

Police are now investigating information from witnesses that one man was seen leaving in a car after being pulled from the area of the fire. It is believed that this man sustained some level of
injury as a result of the fire and may have required medical attention. Investigators would like to speak with this person and anyone else who may have witnessed the fire and are able to provide further information.

He is described as:

• Male, white, 18 to 20 years
• Slim build
• Shoulder length, blond hair
• Wearing a dark-coloured hooded sweatshirt
