Two women sexually assaulted in Ottawa

The Ottawa Police Service is currently investigating two incidents of sexual assault that took place in the downtown core between July 28, 2010 and August 2, 2010.

On Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at approximately 8:18 pm, a 26-year-old female victim was on Gladstone Avenue leaning in to the passenger side door of her vehicle when she was grabbed from behind and inappropriately touched by a male suspect. The victim immediately turned around and screamed and the male fled eastbound down Gladstone Avenue.

On Monday, August 2, 2010, at approximately 12:40 pm, a 24-year-old female victim was walking on Gilmour Street towards Elgin Street when she was grabbed from behind and inappropriately touched. The male fled southbound following the assault.

Neither of the victims suffered any physical injuries as a result of the assaults.

The suspect in both incidents is described as a Middle Eastern male, or a male of East Indian descent. He is 5’5” to 5’8” tall (165 cm to 173 cm) with a medium build. On July 28, 2010, the suspect was wearing loose fitting jeans, a black polo style shirt with a number on the sleeve and silver wire-style sunglasses. On August 2, 2010, the suspect was wearing a red or maroon long sleeve shirt, khaki coloured shorts and thick rimmed glasses.
