Charged with first degree murder is 35-year-old Stoney Creek resident Dalibor Klaric.
The victim has been identified as 40-year-old Jiali Zhang a Chinese National living in Toronto. Zhang arrived in Canada from Hong Kong in 2007. At the time of her death Zhang’s status in Canada was under review. Zhang had been supporting herself working as an escort.
Background:
On Tuesday, November 12th, 2013 shortly after 11:00 p.m. a male called 9-1-1 from the parking lot of Eastgate Square to report he had just killed a woman inside a Stoney Creek apartment. Officers were dispatched to a Riverdale Avenue address where they discovered the body of a female; she was the obvious victim of a homicide.
