Bank robber strikes seventh bank in Richmond Hill since January

The York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit is seeking public assistance in identifying and locating a suspect wanted in connection with a total of seven bank robberies in York Region including the most recent, at a Richmond Hill bank on Saturday.

On Saturday, September 11, 2010, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the lone suspect entered the Scotiabank located at 1580 Elgin Mills Rd East, Richmond Hill. The suspect approached a bank teller, jumped the counter, indicated he had a weapon and made a demand for cash. Although no weapon was seen, the victim complied and the suspect fled the area in an eastbound direction on foot with a quantity of cash. There were no injuries as a result of this incident.

The same suspect is believed to be responsible for six other incidents in York Region and three additional incidents in other regions.

He is described as:
• Male, white, approximately 45 years
• 5’9’’, medium build, unshaven
• Wearing blue jeans, a red baseball cap, glasses
• Armed with a handgun
