Pakistani native refugee claimant in Canada, Jamila Bibi, has been deportedfrom Saskatoon airport on early Tuesday morning. According to Bibi’s lawyer, Bashir Khan, she faces danger of sheer violence and death because of unproven adultery charges against her in Pakistan.

Before leaving the airport, Bibi had her last words with her employer and well-wisher, Sahana Yeasmin, while CBSA officers were checking their baggage with West Jet. Thereafter, Bibi was escorted by CBSA officers to board flight WS320 bound for Toronto at around 5:30am on a brisk, cool morning. Even though Bibi did not personally address the media, she gave her message to Yeasmin and asked her to speak on her behalf. Conveying Bibi’s message, Yasmin stated that “right now, I want to say to the minister of public safety, Steven Blaney, and request to the government to stop her deportation.” She also added that “when she (Bibi) was leaving, she asked me to pass along this message through you guys to the government; she was begging the government to stop her deportation.”

Although Yasmin seemed pretty shaken up herself, the restaurant owner who employed and befriended Bibi remained steadfast in sharing what Bibi had told her. Yasmin explained that “she was telling me that from last Wednesday, she didn’t eat anything. She was telling me, she feels like ‘this is my land, and I’m leaving my land.’ I’m just making a last request to everyone, help this lady, (in order) to stop this deportation.”
