On November 17, 2010 at approximately 11:50 p.m., several police units were dispatched to a gas station located in the 800 block of Ellice Avenue regarding robbery incident.

Attending members learned that just moments prior to their arrival a male suspect concealing his identity entered the business and proceeded behind the store counter. The suspect, while armed with a metal object demanded cash and cigarettes from the store clerk. The clerk complied and the suspect subsequently made threats to harm before fleeing the store.

Police were contacted and advised of the incident.

Officers assigned to search the area located the suspect male in the area of the 600 block of Arlington Street and placed him under arrest.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit were notified of the incident and continued with the investigation.

James Sonny MCKAY, 37 years of Winnipeg has been charged with: Robbery with a Weapon and Disguise with Intent. He was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
