50-year-old woman dies after being hit by a truck in Toronto

On Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at 8:19 a.m., police responded to a personal injury collision on Dundas Street West/Kenneth Avenue.

It is reported that:

– a 50-year-old woman had been walking north, along a paved section of shoulder, on the east side of Dundas Street West/Kenneth Avenue,

– the woman stopped on the north side of a hydro pole, located on the east side of Dundas Street West, and then stepped from behind the pole onto the roadway, directly into the path of an approaching truck,

– a 34-year-old man, driving the truck northbound in the curb lane, attempted to stop the vehicle, but struck the woman, knocking her to the ground.

The woman sustained serious, life-threatening injuries. She was taken to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
