A man, who poses as a contractor, has been charged with theft of property and investigators continue to seek public assistance for information related to the business operated by the individual.
On Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015, three men attended a residence in the 400 block of Canterbury Place S.W., owned by an 81-year-old woman. The men, who had approached the victim before, posed as contractors offering to provide an appraisal for work related to insulation in her home. Once the three men left, the homeowner realized she was missing numerous pieces of jewelry.
Investigators believe the men frequently target senior citizens under the guise of providing contractor work to the homes in which they live. During the process the men allegedly attempt to solicit more funds from homeowners through a fraudulent means. The men were allegedly also taking deposits, while not authorized to do so pursuant to the Fair Trading Act.
Investigators with the CPS, The City of Calgary and Service Alberta are looking to speak to anyone who may have information about AAA Enterprises, also known as Canadian National Exteriors, or Fair Trades.
Michael John ARSENAULT, 54, of Calgary, has been charged with one count of theft over $5,000, one count of possession of stolen property over $5,000, one count of possession of stolen property under $5,000 and one count of possession of stolen property, responsible for the original offence. He has also been charged with one count of non-compliance of the Alberta Fair Trade Act.
