Aron Thomas, 23, had previously appeared at the same court on September 8 2010 and pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and GBH with intent after firing a handgun in a busy street in Wood Green on 28 February 2010.
The court heard how Thomas had driven to Bullers Road, N22, close to pubs and bars at Wood Green tube station, and pulled out a gun. He then fired eight shots towards members of the public and struck one man in the leg.
The 20-year-old victim was treated at Whittington Hospital where surgeons removed the lodged bullet from his lower right leg.
Thomas fled the scene before police arrived but after local searches he was traced to his home address in Bramall Court, Georges Rod, N7 and arrested.
Detective Inspector Sally Jeffrey, of Operation Trident, said: "The young victim had been enjoying a night out with friends when he realised someone was firing indiscriminately at members of the public. After hearing the third shot he began to run but was shot in the leg from behind.
"Due to the substantial evidence gathered by Trident officers Aron Thomas had no choice but to plead guilty at the Old Bailey today."
