Former Prime Minister Gordon BrownFormer Prime Minister Gordon Brown has insisted on Saturday Britain will deliver on the promises made to Scotland over further devolution of powers.

Mr Brown has said to ensure the commitment made by the three Westminster elite leaders from the main parties will be fulfilled by asking them to honour their pledges.

Prime Minister David Cameron, Labour leader Ed Miliband and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, all made pledges just a week before Scottish independence referendum to people of Scotland related to transference of new powers over income tax and welfare spending to the devolved Scottish government, if voters will decide against separation.

The Scottish National Party have expressed their concerns that the schedule the ex-PM set out for further devolution will not be met after Scots choose to stay in union with United Kingdom with 55 per cent voters said ‘No’ to independence on a historic referendum day.

Mr Brown has responded to such raised concerns as he has said: “The promises that were made last week about change, about the delivery of further devolution, must be, and I believe, and will ensure, will be delivered.”

Just days before the historic Scottish referendum, Mr Brown had took up the task of drafting British policy by announcing that laws granting further devolution to the Scottish parliament would get ready by the time Scots celebrate the birthday of their most revered poet, Robert Burns, on January 25.

Mr Brown has stated: “The eyes of the world have been upon us and now I think the eyes of the world are upon the leaders of the major parties of the United Kingdom.

“These are men who had been promise makers, and they will not be promise breakers, and I will ensure that that these promises that have been made are upheld.”
