Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched a fresh inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the synthetic tracks of about five stadia regarding the Commonwealth Games for 2010. It has carried out searches and raided about 4 different locations within the country in search of leads and investigative material on the case from a fresh perspective, nullifying all the previous stances. The action took place on Wednesday.

The Department of Police had carried out these searches in a number of different locations during the previous year as well when the matter got highlighted for the first time but the results were not fruitful and the investigation was abandoned in its initial stages. The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) had also announced to carry out a fresh investigation into the dozens of complaints filed regarding the irregularities in the program and the alleged graft cases against the government of that time but no significant action was taken.

However, after a break of quite some time, the CBI has come in action once again taking up their pending case and has carried out fresh searches in areas of Kolkata, Delhi, Siliguri, and NCR. They have also launched four more cases in reference to the CWG cases on Wednesday and are exploring evidence against charges of corruption in terms of the venue for games, appointment of workforce, air conditioners, display boards, and the broker who was given the contract for management during the CG.
