The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Wednesday that defenceman Dion Phaneuf will be out of the lineup for approximately four to six weeks. Phaneuf sustained a significant leg laceration during the second period of last night’s game against Ottawa. Successful surgery was performed on his leg last evening.

Defenceman Korbinian Holzer has been recalled from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League and will join the team in Washington today. In eight games with the Marlies, Holzer has registered 17 penalty minutes. He was originally the Leafs’ fourth choice, selected 111th overall, in the 2006 Entry Draft.
