IMMIGRATION”
Immigration is an issue that affects all of us as Canadians. There are many questions and different positions. Does the system need reform? Does Canada need more immigrants for economic well being? Should there be a moratorium on immigration for a while? Should there be policy reform? Is immigration being misused?   Let’s discuss all these issues and more with our speakers who have some expertise in this area:

David Harris is a Canadian lawyer with three decades in the field of international security and intelligence affairs, involved in criminal and national security issues, and Director of the International and Terrorist Intelligence Program, INSIGNIS Strategic Research Inc.  Maclean’s, Canada’s most prominent newsmagazine, calls Harris “one of Canada’s leading experts on terrorism.”

Chantal Desloges, LL.B., C.S is a Specialist in Citizenship & Immigration Law & Refugee Law. Ms. Desloges was a co-Professor of Immigration Law at Osgoode Hall Law School and served as a Curriculum coordinator and Lecturer for the Seneca College Immigration Practitioner Certificate Program. Ms. Desloges is currently a member of the French language committee for the Toronto Police and an advisor to the Coalition for Undocumented Workers.

Salim Mansuris an Associate Professor at University of Western Ontario, London in the department of political science. He is the author of Islam’s Predicament: Perspectives of a Dissident Muslim. Mansur writes a weekly column for Toronto Sun and his Sun columns are published across Canada. He has been published in Western Standard, the National Post, Globe and Mail, and the National Review as well as online in USA and Internationally.

Julie Taub is a bilingual immigration lawyer practicing in Ottawa. She is a former Member of the Immigration and Refugee Board ("IRB") Refugee Protection Division, part time duty counsel with Ottawa Legal Aid on the immigration panel and is on the Advisory Board of the Centre for Immigration Policy Reform lobbying for immigration reform for many years.  Julie Taub was an invited speaker at the Conference on Canada, Immigration and Multiculturalism, hosted by the U.S State Department in Washington D.C. in January 2008. She has spoken at the Symposium on Canada’s Immigration and Refugee System hosted by the Canadian Centre for Policy Studies in Ottawa & was part of a documentary on Marriages of Convenience aired by CBC: The Passionate Eye. Most recently, she appeared on a panel discussing family reunification on the Business News Network.
