Celebrate what would have been the 100th birthday of a true American icon, Frank Sinatra, with a screening of On the Town at Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts. Three sailors on a 24-hour pass in New York City fall for three local ladies. Singing and dancing abound in this freewheeling 1949 comedy, ranked one of the Top 20 Movie Musicals of All Time by the American Film Institute. Directed by Gene Kelly and starring Kelly, Sinatra and Ann Miller, and with music by Leonard Bernstein and Roger Edens, it’s easy to see why this film musical is still great fun to watch more than 65 years later.
