Mad Men’s final season takes place in 1969 and what a year that was for fashion! By then, Betsey Johnson ruled, not Balenciaga. Those pointystiletto heels gave way to the squashed heel (or kitten heel) with square toes. Women could run faster. Girdles were long gone and bras were optional. The A-line dresses were short but colorful and comfy. Almost all women wore “falls” to augment their hair and false eyelashes. Hippie style was just around the corner. Of course the office versions of current styles were somewhat modified, but you get the idea. Wah! We’re going to MISS Mad Men!
